When you think about sensory play, what springs to mind? A toddler covered in dyed cooked spaghetti making a huge mess? Or perhaps a huge tub of rainbow rice? Whilst there’s no denying that these are examples of typical sensory play that you see on Instagram and Pinterest, they aren’t the only way to embrace it.

For many reasons, sensory play using food might be a huge no-no to you. Religion, culture and economical factors all play a part - but saying no to food in play doesn’t mean that you can’t do sensory play.

In this email, we will be looking at all options for sensory play bases (and yes, some do include food items) and equipment so that you can make informed decisions about what to use - and what to avoid.

April at a glance:

  • The Importance of Sensory Play - 4th April

  • Planning and Preparing for Sensory Play- 11th April
