I could talk endlessly about the benefits of outdoor play. For most of my life, having outdoor space was something I took for granted and it was only when we moved from an Australian suburb (with lots of garden space) to an apartment in Vienna that I started to appreciate the importance of outdoor play.
Whilst this sounds quite ironic, moving to the city also came at a time when my youngest son was becoming really active. In fact he thrives when he can spend the majority of time outdoors. He loves nothing more than climbing, exploring and kicking a ball as high as he can.
Unfortunately apartment living and a very active child do not go hand in hand, and so we actively changed our daily rhythm and weekly rhythm to focus on more outdoor time. It was possibly the best parenting decision for all of us.
That's why the theme for October's masterclass was Outdoor Play. We kickstarted the month with the 30 Days of Outdoor Play challenge which was designed to inspire you to spend just a little more time outdoors each day. Since six months has now passed since that first Outdoor Play Challenge, I thought I’d create a Spring version - right in time for the warmer months ahead.
