The Beautiful Lesson of Failure
Allowing space for your child to 'fail' and why I don't help my children get onto play equipment
Last weekend, my daughter had a playdate at the local park. As city dwellers, we tend to take any opportunity we can to take play outside.
Whilst there, Miss 6 and her friend played hide & seek, basketball, chase and ate delicious pastries from the local bakery. It was a fun-filled, energetic two hours but during our visit, my daughter also learnt a powerful lesson about failure.
This week, the subject of our Outdoor Play Masterclass has been An Introduction to Risky Play. In this follow-up email, I wanted to focus on the beautiful lessons failure can bring, because outdoors there are plenty of opportunities for your child to ‘fail’ at something!
This email is part of the paid Substack subscription. Your support means a great deal to me especially as I get started with my Substack page. If you’re not sure about the differences between the paid and free versions, you can read more about it here.
